Objectives: This study examined the effect of positive-emotion on the relationships among emotional stability, emotional regulation and father-adolescent attachment.
Methods: A total 225 pairs of fathers and their adolescent child were included in the study. The data were collected in Seoul and a metropolitan area of Kyonggi province. Drawing on previous studies, a hypothetical model (partial mediating effect) and a competing model (full meditating effect) were constructed.
Results: The competing model, in which positive emotion fully affects relationships among emotional stability, emotional regulation and father-adolescent child attachment, showed good fitness indices and significant relationships among variables.
Conclusions: Enhancing the positive emotions of fathers of adolescents should be considered an important component of counseling and psychoeducational efforts to improve family relationships.
